Karen Liddle
Arrernte and Alyawarre. Arrernte on her father's side, Alyawarre on her mother's side. The youngest of six siblings. Mother of six children and grandmother to sixteen. Her father was an Alice Springs wood merchant who fought for Aboriginal rights across Central Australia and helped set up the Aboriginal Legal Service and the Aboriginal Health Service. Karen worked at Legal Aid and at Congress before looking after her grandchildren. She encouraged her daughters to leave their jobs and start their own business, which is how Oonchiumpa began.
